If you’ve ever stood in a changing room wondering what colours suit me?, that’s the question colour analysis answers. It’s the process of working out which shades harmonise with your natural colouring: the undertone of your skin, the depth of your eyes and hair, and how much contrast sits between them.
Why your colours matter
The right colours bring your face to life; the wrong ones quietly do the opposite. Wear your colours and people say you look well. Wear the wrong ones and they ask if you slept. Nothing about your face has changed, only what’s next to it. Colour analysis simply makes that effect deliberate, so every piece you buy already works before you’ve thought about it.
The four seasonal palettes
Seasonal colour analysis groups natural colouring into four families, by warmth and clarity:
- Spring: warm and clear. Fresh, sunlit shades: coral, warm green, golden yellow, ivory rather than stark white.
- Summer: cool and soft. Gentle, misted shades: dusty rose, soft blue, lavender, cool greys instead of black.
- Autumn: warm and deep. Rich, earthed shades: rust, olive, mustard, chocolate, burnished gold.
- Winter: cool and clear. Bold, high-contrast shades: true red, emerald, icy pink, pure white and black.
Plenty of people sit between seasons, which is exactly why a chart on the internet only gets you so far, and why we work it out together, against your colouring, not a stranger’s. There’s more on each season on my colour analysis page.
How colour works in a session with me
Colour isn’t an add-on here; it’s part of everything I do. Every styling package begins with a style consultation where we explore the colours that genuinely work for you, and the ‘Jeans and a Nice Top’ workshop covers colour alongside body shape and personal style.
If colour is the thing you most want to solve, a dedicated colour analysis or colour consultation, just say so at your free discovery call and we’ll shape the session entirely around it: your palette, how the seasons work, and how to use your colours across your existing wardrobe. We explore which colours genuinely work against your skin, eyes and hair, then translate that into your actual wardrobe, so it’s useful on a Tuesday morning, not just interesting on paper.
In person, or online
I’m based in the Barossa Valley and work in person across the valley, Gawler and Adelaide. Prefer to work remotely? A virtual colour analysis is just as personal, and online styling is available wherever you are.
You can also request my free ‘Understanding colour’ guide on the free resources page; it will be emailed to you as soon as it’s ready. And if you’re thinking about your whole wardrobe, my notes on how to build a capsule wardrobe and how to declutter your wardrobe are a good next read.
